The one-horsepower, one-Ph, 115-volt motor is mounted within the cabinet and can be converted to use 230-volt power. It's also located on a special mount within the base cabinet for easy belt-tension adjustments.

The base contains a dust collection chute that evacuates debris from below the cutter-head and guides the debris to the exterior four-inch diameter port near the floor for less mess, better air quality, and improved visibility of the work piece.

Three-Knife Cutter-Head for Smooth Cuts
The Powermatic 54A features a three-knife cutter-head fitted with adjustment cams that make setting knife heights both easy and accurate.

Each knife is made from high-quality steel for long-lasting performance. And since the knives are secured by a set of four gib screws and a gib plate, they are easy to change and set.

Generous Table Size and Easy Adjustability
With a width of 7-1/4 inches and length of 66 inches, the Powermatic 54A has the longest tables available in its class, so it provides plenty of support for large work pieces.

The tables are precision ground to ensure flatness, and each is mounted on dovetailed ways that keep them aligned through height changes. For added convenience, you can adjust the out-feed table height via a hand wheel mounted below the table.

Additionally, an easy-to-read scale on the front side of the in-feed table allows quick and precise setting of specific cut changes, and a finger-operated gib screw locks the table in position once it is set.

Precisely Ground Fence
Like the tables, the cast-iron fence system is precisely ground. It tilts up to 45 degrees towards and away from the tables. Fully adjustable stops at 90 degrees (vertical) and each 45-degree position make setup fast and help keep the Powermatic 54A accurate.

For added convenience, the fence controls are center mounted, and a push-button switch is lockable to prevent accidental starting.
